Texas police say off-duty police officer shot in roadside attack
An off-duty officer was shot and killed while driving with his son in a roadside attack, according to Texas police.
A 48-year-old San Antonio officer told investigators another vehicle was “crashing” with him on a stretch of the highway on the city’s north side around 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, according to a San Antonio Police Department news release.
That vehicle was speeding and hitting an officerpolice told KENS.
Another driver then pulled up next to the officer’s truck and the passenger opened fire, the release said. Several bullets hit the truck and one hit the officer, police said.
His The 16-year-old son was not injured and dialed 911, KABB reported.
Police arrived and found the truck stopped on the side of the highway, according to the release. The officer was taken to hospital in stable condition.
Police said no suspects have been identified, but the investigation is ongoing.
