The Hot Dog Box in Portage Park is closing

CHICAGO — A popular family-owned hot dog stand in Portage Park announced Tuesday that it will close its doors next month.

Picked up in 2021 on WGN-TV Chicago Daily and The best of ChicagoBobby Morelli and Brooklyn Jade are the father-daughter duo that created the gourmet Chicago hot dog known as Hot dog box.

Morelli shared the news of the restaurant’s imminent closure on social media:

“After much thought, prayer, advice and tears with family and close friends, I have decided to close The Hot Dog Box in Portage Park! It’s been so heavy on my heart to make this announcement, and it’s taking a lot of strength out of me! To be honest, as an outsider, we fought hard to keep it going, and we’re still fighting, but we have to turn the page to a new chapter!”

The eatery is located at 4020 N Milwaukee Ave., and the last day of business is Friday, December 16.
