The local team honors veterans with music, patriotism Main stories

CLINTON, ILL. (WAND) – It was a powerful way to say thank you. Jeff Morlock, founder of The Battle Cross Crusaders, organized a special event to honor local veterans.

“You all raise your hand to serve and protect this great country. I personally thank you,” Morlak said.

More than a hundred people gathered at this event to thank local veterans. The event is organized by Battle Cross Crusaders, an organization that provides support and recognition to veterans and their families.

Some veterans shared their personal experiences.

“Everyone remembers Apollo 11.” Then the first man, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, walked on the moon,” said Alfred Hassebroek, a Navy veteran who served from 1965 to 1969.

Korean War II veteran and Clinton native Bob Potter flew in from California to witness the event.

“It’s humbling, there are a lot of great guys in this audience. There are a lot of veterans that we honored and family members,” Morlock said.

“I appreciate this song and I appreciate everything you do. And I want to thank you,” shared Potter.

The Crusader Battle Cross will continue to honor our veterans not only on their day, but every day. If you are interested in the work Battle Cross does to help veterans, visit them Facebook page.
