Powerball prize soars to $1.2 billion after no winners announced Monday | National

Halloween night’s Powerball drawing didn’t get any special treats, as none of the tickets sold matched all six numbers.

The lack of a winner means the next drawing on Wednesday night will feature a whopping $1.2 billion jackpot.

Monday’s winning numbers are white balls 13, 19, 36, 39, 59 and red ball 13.

There will be an increased jackpot 4th largest in US history. The biggest prize was won by a $1.586 Billion Powerball Jackpot in 2016, three ticket holders won.

Massive lottery jackpots have become more common in recent years as lottery officials have adjusted game rules and ticket prices to increase top prizes. The latest tweak was made in August, when Powerball officials added an extra drawing day — from two a week to three — to boost prizes and increase sales.

While Wednesday’s advertised top prize will be roughly $1.2 billion, that’s for winners who receive winnings through an annuity paid out over 29 years. The winners almost always pick the money, which for Wednesday night’s drawing will be approximately $596 million.

Since August 3, no one has picked all six numbers, meaning there have been 38 straight draws without a jackpot winner – evidence that how small the chances are jackpot winning odds: 1 in 292.2 million.

Powerball is played in 45 states as well as Washington, DC, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
