Woman dead after shooting in Decatur | Main stories

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) – A woman who was shot Saturday in Decatur has died.

Shortly before 6 a.m. Saturday, Decatur police were called to the 1200 block of E. Sedgwick Street for a report of shots fired.

Officers found Shakita S. Bond, 31, unresponsive in the vehicle.

Bond was rushed to a local hospital and later transferred to Champaign County Hospital for further treatment.

The Champaign County Coroner’s Office contacted the Decatur Police Department on Sunday and said Bond was pronounced dead at 1:46 p.m. Sunday.

At the moment, no one has been detained. Anyone with information is asked to call the Decatur Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division at 217-424-2734.
