Two injured in head-on collision on Lake Shore Drive | Main stories

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) – Police blocked lanes of traffic the west of Jasper on Lake Shore Drive due to a collision.

WAND is working to learn more, no additional information has been released at this time.

Update 9:32 p.m

According to a news release from the Decatur Police Department, two people were injured in a head-on collision on Lake Shore Dr.

A Hyundai Elantra was traveling eastbound on Lake Shore Dr. and swerved into the westbound lane to avoid colliding with an SUV that was waiting to turn left onto Silas Street. The Hyundai crashed head-on into an oncoming Ford F250.

Both vehicles came to rest on the north shore of Lake Shore. The driver of the Hyundai, a 44-year-old woman from Decatur, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital. The driver of the Ford, a 43-year-old man from Moweaqua, also went to hospital with injuries.

The accident is currently under investigation.
